 In
1999 Jerome Mayne, father of two young boys, received a 21 month
prison sentence for conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, a
crime that took place four years earlier. Four years earlier, he
didn’t think he was involved in a crime. On November 4th, 1999,
he reported to the Federal Prison in Yankton, South Dakota. His
career, life and family changed forever. Before that, he thought
he was just like any other good entrepreneur.
Everyone, everyday has the opportunity to turn the other way,
omit facts and even commit fraud. Today, our news media is full
of professionals who may have been unaware of, or didn’t think
that the “corners they cut” were significant. Some find comfort
in the phrase, “Everybody does it.” But, fraud is fraud and it
